Mr Hill left a legacy to the British Red Cross in thanks for the help he and his parents received during World War II.
"Mr Hill told me of his eternal gratitude to he British Red Cross for the support he and his parents received during the difficult three and a half years he was a prisoner of war. I know of the very trying time prisoners had and what it must have meant to them to receive food parcels from the outside world signifying that they had not been forgotten."
Norman Hurst, Executor of Mr Hill's Will.
Today, we aim to help wherever disaster strikes
"As a volunteer, giving a legacy as well as my time to the British Red Cross gives me the satisfaction of helping our wonderful humanitarian movement long into the future."
"From my very first day with the Red Cross I have been so impressed with the principles of the organisation and the work of its volunteers. So much is achieved, with so much kindness...it's got to continue the way it is - forever - and that's why I have decided to leave a legacy."

You can help us be there when people need us in the future
"Normally, at the time we make our Will, we are unsure of the eventual outcome of our estate. By leaving a percentage, the British Red Cross will benefit from any increase in my means".
"One of the major financial decisions most of us make during our lives is the division of our assets under our Will. In my Will, I have included a specific sum of money and a percentage of the residue of my estate for the British Red Cross.
Since I was a child I have been aware of the wonderful work done by the British Red Cross, initially during the Second World War and on a local level on a day-to-day basis.
The immediate response to recent disasters is a testimony to the efficient and caring professionalism of the British Red Cross. It gives me pleasure to know that I can help the British Red Cross, in a small way, after my death."
