Volunteers help at Belfast floods

Budding football stars in Northern Ireland can now play more safely, thanks to a first aid course for coaches run by the British Red Cross and the Irish Football Association. As torrential rain caused severe flooding in Northern Ireland last weekend, Red Cross volunteers turned out in force to help local residents – and firefighters – caught up in the horrendous conditions.

Volunteers save burn victims at music festival

Power is on its way to the island of Vilufushi as the final phase of work on the British Red Cross recovery programme in the Maldives begins. Sign up online today for a guaranteed place on the British Red Cross team in this 10km run through the city and along the coastline of Portsmouth. Quick-thinking first aid volunteers helped save the lives of two teenagers at a music festival after their gas camping stove exploded, causing severe burns.
