Nancy visits Red Cross in Kenya

Nancy Dell’Olio has recently returned from Kenya, where she visited a wide variety of Red Cross projects. As a British Red Cross supporter, she was keen to find out more about the international work of the organisation.

During a hectic week, Nancy met Red Cross staff and volunteers around the country. She visited the Red Cross field hospital in Lokichokio, met staff working on an HIV and Aids programme in Mombasa and saw how volunteers are helping people living in the slums of Nairobi.

Nancy said: “I knew a bit before, because I was learning about the Red Cross. But coming to Kenya, I really saw how the Red Cross operates. The commitment of the volunteers really impressed me.”

Nancy’s Kenya trip was the latest in a series of commitments to the British Red Cross. She has also visited a project for young refugees near London and attended a dinner hosted by the Prince of Wales to highlight the HIV and Aids work of the Red Cross.
