Red Cross helping young people understand rules governing armed conflicts

The British Red Cross is launching “Raid Cross,” a new role-playing game aimed at helping young people understand the rules governing armed conflicts – referred to as International Humanitarian Law (IHL). The game, to be piloted at King Edward Five Way’s School in Birmingham on Tuesday July 4, is part of the Red Cross’ humanitarian education programme, which is funded by the Department for International Development (DfID).

Red Cross delegates deployed to Cyprus to help Britons evacuated from Lebanon
(18 July) Three British Red Cross delegates are in Cyprus offering practical help and emotional support to Britons evacuated from Lebanon following the recent escalation of violence in the Middle East. Red Cross Emergency Response Officer Stephen Spurling and volunteers Suzanna Rose and Janis Moore, both NHS employees specialising in psychological care, left London yesterday at 8.50 am as part of a Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Rapid Deployment Team.
One week on - British Red Cross issues urgent plea for Middle East
The British Red Cross today (Friday 28 July) made a desperate plea for donations to its Middle East Crisis Appeal to help those affected by the seemingly unending hostilities in Lebanon and northern Israel. The charity’s fundraising appeal, which opened a week ago, has only raised £68,000 of the £10 million it is appealing for from the public to help fund immediate humanitarian assistance in the region, like food, water and medical supplies.
Ten Red Cross delegates fly to Cyprus to help evacuation
(20 July) Ten British Red Cross delegates left Gatwick Airport at 09:15 this morning for Cyprus to help Britons who have been evacuated from Lebanon. The delegates are going at the request of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to provide practical and emotional support to the thousands of Britons who are arriving on the Mediterranean Island.
Red Cross continues support to Britons in Cyprus
(21 July) Thirteen British Red Cross delegates have been helping Britons evacuated to Cyprus from Lebanon. Three delegates have been in Cyprus since Monday and were joined by a further ten delegates yesterday.
