RED CROSS WINS GRANT TO PROMOTE YOUTH VOLUNTEERING

The British Red Cross has been awarded by £199,830 by the new youth volunteering charity v to create 75 full time volunteering opportunities for young people.

The British Red Cross, part of the world’s largest voluntary humanitarian organisation, this week awarded former US President Bill Clinton with its prestigious Humanity Fellowship Award. The award honours those people who reflect the values of the Red Cross movement and have a long association with, and a dedication to, humanitarian work. The only previously recipient has been Nelson Mandela.

A British Red Cross support worker is en route to Seville to offer practical and emotional support to Britons affected by the road collision near the Spanish town yesterday. The coach involved in the incident was travelling from Portugal to Spain with British and German tourists.
