The first ever Dance for Life in Surrey is a huge hit!

19/05/2007

The Dance for Life team wants to say a big well done to everyone that took part in the events in Surrey and Hampshire on 19th May. Everyone was fantastic and as Surreys first EVER Dance for Life event I am pleased to say it was a great evening for everyone involved. Both events at Fleet and Frensham were a huge success raising over £3000 all together which would not have been possible without the support of over 200 young performers who were there on the evenings. We would like to acknowledge the wonderful fundraising efforts of Yateley School who we have since found out raised over £1000 in sponsorship for the event! Wow! Results from both events are below and congratulations to everyone it was another tough round of judging for our panels!

The Dance for Life team wants to say a huge thank you to all the groups that took part in Dance for Life on Saturday 21st April. The evening was a huge success raising over £1600 which would not have been possible without all the support from the 170 young performers who were there on the evening. The judges had a hard job judging the groups and judge Azalia Gosling said “The Standard was so high and everyone had worked so hard it was a hard job”. The judges finally made their decision though and Braishfield Primary School and Eastleigh College danced their way through to a place in the final on 7th & 8th July at the Plaza Theatre Romsey.

Dancing for a worthy cause

30/03/2007

Nearly all the spaces are now full for Dance for Life 2007 but the Dance for Life Team have a few more spaces across Surrey, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight they want to fill with budding dancers from local schools, dance schools and youth groups. The more dance groups that sign up for Dance for Life mean we will care for more vulnerable people in our local communities and overseas.

Every person taking part in Dance for Life is making a massive difference to people in crisis not only across the world, but where they are dancing in their local communities. The British Red Cross works with schools and other youth groups to promote mutual understanding and respect for diversity helping to overcome cultural, social and physical barriers. An example of how Dance for Life makes a difference locally comes our Youth and Schools Programme preparing young people to be active citizens.
