Kate Lee, British Red Cross UK Director (Wales & Western), said: The British Red Cross is very grateful for this donation from Tesco there are vulnerable people that continue to have no power or access to clean water and are in need of these food parcels. The Red Cross National Floods Appeal has now raised £500,000 many thanks to all those who have given and please continue to support us to help the communities affected by flooding rebuild their lives.
The British Red Cross is Tesco Charity of the Year and the two organisations have been working together since January to raise money for British Red Cross services in the UK. Tesco have been very quick to respond and assist the British Red Cross in their emergency work around the recent flooding, and were the first corporate organisation to make a donation the Red Cross National Floods Appeal launched on Tuesday. Members of the public wishing to donate to the appeal can now also do so at larger Tesco stores.
