Telephone fundraising
 | | Our telemarketing campaigns have been so successful that we won the ‘Best Use of Telephone’ award at the 2007 Institute of Fundraising Awards. | | | | | |
| |
| For over ten years the British Red Cross have been successfully recruiting new supporters over the telephone and it remains one of our most cost-effective methods. | |
| Working in conjunction with telemarketing agency Gogen, we call thousands of people every year to discuss Red Cross projects and ask for their support. Many of these people happily agree to set up a regular gift to the Red Cross, and those that do not still have the opportunity to learn a great deal about who we are and what we do. | |
| The value to the Red Cross of the regular givers recruited on the telephone cannot be overstated. The long-term security of these donations gives us the ability to plan ahead and be ready to respond when emergencies occur. | |
 | | | The other advantage of telephone fundraising, along with doorstep and street fundraising, is that it attracts a diverse range of supporters. These are often individuals we haven't managed to reach before through methods such as direct mail and TV. | |
| For example, since the British Red Cross has started using these techniques, there's been a marked rise in the number of young supporters who are committed to giving in the long term. | |
| We take pride in the knowledge, enthusiasm and quality of our telephone fundraisers and go to great lengths to ensure they are well-trained ambassadors for the British Red Cross. If you have any concerns about the conduct of one of our fundraisers, please contact our Supporter Care Team on 0844 87 100 87.
