How do I know if a fundraiser is genuine?

If you come into contact with someone claiming to represent the British Red Cross, the overwhelming likelihood is that they are genuine. If you do need reassurance that a fundraiser is legitimate, please consult the following information.

How to recognise a Door to Door Fundraiser

A British Red Cross Door to Door fundraiser 1 © BRCDoor to door fundraisers wear a white or black tabard with the British Red Cross emblem and will havean identification badge detailing the professional fundraising agency they are working for. They will also be carrying a folder containing British Red Cross literature.

Our fundraisers only ask for regular gifts via Direct Debit and are not authorised to accept one-off cash gifts. Please be assured that setting up a gift by Direct Debit is entirely safe.

A list of postcodes that our door to door fundraisers will be working in is updated weekly and can be seen by clicking here. If a postcode is not included please do not assume that a fundraiser is bogus, as occasionally fundraisers can cross over into the next town or village by mistake.
If you require further reassurance please contact our Supporter Care Team on 0844 87 100 87, who will be able to verify the legitimacy of a fundraiser. Alternatively, you can email supportercare@redcross.org.uk

How to recognise a street fundraiser
