General Fund Appeal

The British Red Cross cares for people in crisis, both in the UK and overseas. For thousands of vulnerable people each year, it is the certain sign of hope in crisis, meeting both immediate and longer term needs.

Our experience of working with people in emergency situations around the world means we can allocate our resources in the most effective ways possible.
The British Red Cross will use your donation wherever the need is greatest, both Internationally and in the UK.
Or you can make a donation to one of our appeals, see our list of current appeals above.

Here are some examples of how your donation could help:

School child drinking water from tap 3 © IFRC
£5 could provide water purification tablets for 60 people.
Sara Middleton using Britsh Red Cross Skin Camouflage Service, Scotland 4 © David Webb (BRCS)

£25 could pay for a consultation with a skin camouflage volunteer to teach someone to hide a disfiguring skin condition.

A volunteer holding maize seeds for distribution in Zimbabwe, Africa 5 © Marko Kokic (IFRC)

£50 could help provide seeds and fertiliser for ten families to grow enough to feed themselves for a year.

Conor Curtis in Scotland used our Medical Loan Service to borrow a wheelchair following spinal surgery. 6 © Sam Hardie (BRCS)

£150 could help buy a wheelchair for our medical loan service here in the UK.

Alternatively, give the gift of Hope by sending a Red Cross parcel to support someone, somewhere when they need it most.  Visit the Parcel of Hope site.

Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. It is a scheme introduced by the Inland Revenue, which allows us to reclaim the basic rate tax you pay as a UK taxpayer.  That's an extra 28p for every £1 you give. This is at absolutely no extra cost to you, so do remember to tick the gift aid box when making your donation.

Why we ask for money, not gifts.
