Red Cross presents first aid at Body Worlds
| British Red Cross staff are presenting first aid techniques at the Body Worlds 4 exhibition in Manchester.
Body Worlds 4 features a collection of 200 human bodies that have undergone plastination, a process developed by Dr Gunther von Hagens. | | | | |
The exhibition, which aims to educate the public on health and nutrition, is being held at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester from 22 February to 29 June.
First aid workshops
At the exhibition the Red Cross is presenting several workshops called “The mechanics behind saving a life”, exploring the anatomical impacts of injury and disease on the human body and how first aid can treat them, often to life-saving effect.
Every visitor to Body Worlds 4 will also be able to take away free first aid materials.
Joe Mulligan, head of first aid services, said: “We are delighted to be providing first aid expertise to Body Worlds 4. We are committed to making first aid knowledge accessible and widely available. Through this partnership we can reach thousands of people with some basic first aid messages and will hopefully inspire them to go on and learn more.”
Autopsy: Emergency Room
The Red Cross teamed up with Body Worlds 4 creator Dr von Hagens last year on the Channel 4 TV programme Autopsy: Emergency Room. Red Cross first aider Emma Rand presented the first aid content of the programme.
The workshops at Body Worlds 4 are being presented in a similar format to the TV programme and will be introduced by Emma.
