Dance for Life in Buckinghamshire is a huge hit!

The two Buckinghamshire heats of Dance for Life 2008 were a great success with over 100 young people performing their fantastic routines at the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School in Aylesbury. The groups, cheered on by family and friends, performed some unique and inspiring routines, based around the ethos of the Red Cross movement and all the groups that took part walked away with awards for all their hard work.

Not only did the groups produce fantastic dance routines, but they have also been working hard to raise vital funds to help the British Red Cross care for vulnerable people in crisis.

Well done to everyone that took part, photographs from the evening can be purchased from Sharon Charlton on 01296 739309

Dance for Life Thames Valley final is a sell out!

Top

On a lovely early summer evening in June, groups of excited dancers came together to Bracknell’s Wilde theatre to take part in the first Thames Valley final of Dance for Life.  Five senior and five junior groups celebrated the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement in dance and performance.  The event was sold out beforehand so plans for next year will include a bigger theatre!

Junior winners, The Downley School performed their piece This Tender Touch. Their dance symbolised the hope and vitality of the Kenyan people.  The piece began in more joyous times and celebrated their enthusiasm for life and growing independence and then later in the piece uprising dramatically interrupts the atmosphere.

Senior winners Lafour Theatre School’s dance started with the horrors of war, then the dance journey moved on to portray humanitarian aid in different situations. The dance concluded with Unity, a fundamental principle of life and the international movement of Red Cross.
