Warhol autograph up for auction
| A sharp-eyed Westminster Red Cross shop manager could earn the organisation several hundred pounds after spotting a book autographed by iconic US pop artist Andy Warhol.

| The book – of Warhol’s own photography, Exposures – was handed in without any fanfare along with a batch of clothing. When the signature was spotted, manager Tim Briggs took the book along to auctioneers Christies, who verified the autograph. | | | | |

Warhol signed a lot of items during his life so its rarity value should be limited, but the book has already far out-reached its projected £100-200 figure.
The book will be sold by silent auction from the Red Cross shop and go to the highest bidder. Anyone wanting to view or buy the book can visit the Red Cross shop at 85 Ebury Street, Westminster, SW1W 9QU or ring 0207 730 2235 to place a bid.
The auction opened on 30 May and lasts for one month, closing Monday 30 June. So far, there has been a lot of interest and the highest bid currently stands at an impressive £400.
The winning bidder will be contacted on Tuesday 1 July by telephone to arrange payment and delivery/collection.
“I know a lot of people are interested in Warhol so hopefully it sells for a good price and helps raise vital funds for the British Red Cross,” says Tim.
