About our Overseas Branches

The British Red Cross has eight Overseas Branches. Five Branches are in the Caribbean: Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat, and Turks and Caicos. Our other three Branches are in Bermuda, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands.
These countries are classed as British Overseas Territories, meaning they are subject to the British government. The Red Cross’ fundamental principle of unity means that every country can only have one Red Cross National Society, so the Branches on these islands also form part of the British Red Cross.
Each of the Branches has a volunteer executive board that governs the Branch and allocates local resources to the Branch’s activities. The Overseas Branches are then supported by an operations director from the UK who provides resources, guidance and support in the development and implementation of plans and programmes.
