Water and sanitation in Cambodia

In Oddar Meanchey, where the British Red Cross supports health programmes, some 11 per cent of Cambodia’s children die before reaching the age of five and around 9 per cent die before one year.Young girl smiling 1 © Yoshi Shimizu/IFRC

We have been working in Cambodia for more than five years, having a positive impact on the lives of over 60,000 people through its water and sanitation work. This includes providing more than 1,000 water filter units, 200 latrines and over 50 hand-dug wells with pumps serving almost 2,000 people. More than 100 Red Cross volunteers give hygiene promotion sessions to the most vulnerable.
