Afghanistan video and photo gallery

As conflict continues in Afghanistan, the humanitarian situation worsens and, across the north of the country, is compounded by a chronic drought, the area’s worst in a decade.

In this complex, volatile environment, where access to conflict victims is often challenging, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), supported by the Afghan Red Crescent, is one of the very few humanitarian organisations that can reach and help people in need because it is understood to be a strictly independent and politically neutral intermediary.

For almost 30 years, the ICRC has run health and rehabilitation programmes, visited prisoners and restored links between family members separated by conflict.
