Our annual Humanitarian Citizen Awards celebrate the contribution that young people – whether individuals or groups – make to the lives of others. They might help in many different ways – by fundraising, giving first aid, campaigning for a good cause or befriending those who need a little extra support.
If you know a young person or group that you think deserves recognition, then nominate someone today. It only takes a couple of minutes and the closing date – Friday 25 September – is fast approaching.
Inspiring young people
In November, all lucky short-listed nominees will be invited to the Houses of Parliament at Westminster in London for an exclusive awards ceremony where the overall winners will be announced.
Jonathan Banks/British Red CrossEmma Johns, award co-ordinator, said: “It doesn’t matter how big or small the scale of our young heroes’ achievements is – for example, whether they have organised a huge fundraising event or just regularly visited a vulnerable neighbour.
“What’s key to us is that the entrants have, by their actions, improved the quality of other people’s lives.”
Nominate someone now
Previous finalists have included a student group who ran a homework and social club for young refugees, and a brave first aider with learning difficulties who helped his father in an emergency.
As the deadline approaches, Emma is urging people to show some support. She said: “By spending just a few minutes filling out a nomination form, you could help some young heroes win a prestigious award and really make their day.”
