You might not be able to see their halos, but every day young heroes across the UK make a huge difference to the lives of others. If you know any marvels aged 25 or under, make sure to nominate them for our Humanitarian Citizen Awards before 8 July – and you could help get them get the recognition they deserve.
Our annual awards, sponsored by Canon, celebrate the contribution that young people – whether individuals or groups – make to the lives of others in all kinds of different ways.
Nominate someone today
There are four categories to choose from for both individuals and groups. See if you know anyone who fits the bill for any of the following:
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a life-saving act or smaller-scale incident, we’re looking for young first aid heroes who have stepped forward to help when needed.
We’re looking for young heroes who give up their own time to help others, in whatever capacity.
Do you know any young person – or group – that makes a positive contribution either in their own area or to other communities?
Whatever the good cause, do you know anyone who’s been putting their imagination and energy to good use and raising money?
If you know a young person or group that you think deserves recognition, please do nominate them. It only takes a couple of minutes and the closing date is 8 July.
Inspiring young people
Last year’s awards attracted some jaw-droppingly impressive entries. The overall winner was 15-year-old wonder volunteer Cameron Foster who, after breaking both legs in a ski accident, was inspired to raise £10,000 to help buy specialist sports equipment for disabled people.
Lynne Stewart (22) repeatedly volunteered at a children’s home in India and even launched her own charity to enable more young people to volunteer overseas. And Red Cross volunteer Fergus Carter-Brazier single-handedly started a first aid awareness project for young mums and dads in Portsmouth.
Robin Wells, youth programme co-ordinator, said: “Every year we are amazed by the number of unsung young heroes across the country. By spending just a few minutes filling out a nomination form, you might help someone win a prestigious award and really make their day.”
