Photo gallery: Red Cross hospitals after the war

During the First and Second World Wars, Red Cross nurses helped soldiers and civilians at home and abroad.

When the wars were over, the government established the National Health Service (NHS). The Red Cross still had a major role to play, though, in helping patients while the fledgling NHS was finding its feet.

See some of our photos of the hospitals we ran after 1948.
