South Africa HIV Fund
In a country where one in five adults is HIV positive, the South African Red Cross is supporting the world’s largest caseload of people engaged in a daily struggle living with HIV.
We can double your donation
We're doing all we can to help and for every pound you donate to our South Africa HIV Fund an anonymous donor has pledged to match it with another pound meaning your donation will help twice as much.
The British Red Cross is supporting a programme in KwaZulu Natal, which is the worst-affected region in the country. More than 37 per cent of people in the province are living with HIV and one in five children has lost their mother, father or both parents to the pandemic.
Thousands need help
Despite the enormous challenges, the South African Red Cross programme is having a big impact. It combines care and treatment with anti-stigma messages and prevention activities. Yet there is much more work to be done and thousands more people to be helped.
If things are going to change, then young people need to be engaged.
And this is exactly what is happening in South Africa where volunteers on the frontline of the response to HIV are getting the message out through drama, music and sports.
With your support the Red Cross is already making a difference. And together, we hope to do even more.
