In South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province one in five children is an orphan.

One in four adults lives with HIV. This has a devastating effect on the lives of so many children.

The Red Cross works with 14,000 vulnerable children and their families across KwaZulu-Natal. Carers offer emotional support, helping orphans deal with the loss of their loved ones. Our volunteers assist families with government welfare applications and school uniforms, allowing children to stay in school and build a future for themselves. We can only provide this essential care because of the generosity of our supporters like you.

The South African Red Cross programme is having a big impact despite the enormous challenges. It combines care and treatment with anti-stigma messages and prevention activities. Yet there is much more work to be done and thousands more people to be helped.

Your donation increased

We have an extraordinary opportunity today to make an even bigger difference to the lives of orphaned children in KwaZulu-Natal. An anonymous Red Cross donor will match half of everything donated to the project, meaning your donation will go even further.

Your donation will help save and change so many young lives. Please give what you can today.
