Julian is part of a drive to encourage thousands of people to give to the Red Cross by monthly direct debit. He would like to be able to travel at the speed of light so he could persuade even more people to sign on the dotted line.

Q: What’s the best thing about working for the Red Cross?

A: I meet a lot of really nice people, who mostly respond very positively to me. I get a great sense of satisfaction from contributing to saving lives and being part of something that makes a difference.

Q: And the worst?

A: The hours can sometimes be unsociable – because we’re providing a service and it has to be convenient for the people we speak to.

Q: Which three famous people, living or dead, would you most like to invite for dinner?

A: I’d love to have a conversation with Martin Luther King for insight and perspective. He was a forward thinker and way ahead of his time. For laughs, I’d ask Richard Pryor and for eye candy […after much consideration and consultation with fellow fundraisers…] Alicia Silverstone.

Q: If you won £1 million, what would you spend it on?

A: My family.

Q: What is your favourite holiday destination?

A: St Lucia’s the nicest place I’ve been to so far. I went there after I graduated – it was a gift. I stayed in a fully inclusive resort and was really pampered.

Q: What is your fondest childhood memory?

A: The first time I could buy my mum a gift. I saved up all my money and bought her a necklace. I think I was about eight or nine at the time.

Q: What superhero power would most help you to do your job?

A: The Flash’s power of speed. It would help me to see more people.

Q: What is your pet hate?

A: People who lack manners. I think everyone should be polite.

Q: What song is guaranteed to get you on the dance floor?

A: It would have to be “Say I” by Christina Milian.

Q: What is your motto?

A: Make your next move your best move.
