Outdoor fun day

What is it?

  • Hold a fun day and support the British Red Cross!
  • Raise money by having stalls selling different things or where people can pay a donation to take part in activities.

What you’ll need

  • A date for your fun day
  • A place to hold it with plenty of space for the stalls and activities you have planned
  • Lots of people to help plan the event and run it on the day
  • Tables to use as stalls
  • Any materials or equipment you need for the different activities you choose
  • Suggested donation prices for the items on sale and for taking part in activities
  • Permission from your youth leader or teacher
  • A camera so you can take lots of photographs
  • A way of making sure everybody knows about it so they can join in or come along. Think about the ways you can do this – maybe using posters, newsletters or announcements
  • A safe, sealed or lockable place to keep the money you collect
  • Someone who can write a cheque for the amount you raise

Top tips

  • Set your fun day a few weeks ahead so you have plenty of time to tell everyone about it.
  • Ideas for activities might include: penalty shoot-out, a coconut shy and hook-a-duck.
  • Ideas for stalls might include: bric-a-brac, a tombola, guess the number of sweets in the jar and refreshments.

All about the money

  • Once the event is over and you’ve collected all the money, post us a cheque (made payable to the British Red Cross) for the amount you raised, along with a copy of the banking form from the module five facilitator's notes. Our address details are also on the same page as the form.
