Why should I get involved?
Just ask one of our existing volunteers. By getting involved as a Red Cross event first aider, you’ll learn a valuable new set of skills, meet a great set of new friends and have the satisfaction of knowing you’re using your time to help others.
What skills do I need?
You don’t need any previous first aid skills to become a volunteer – after all, we’d hardly expect you to turn up knowing everything. The Red Cross provides full training and will give you all the support you need to prepare for your volunteering role. We’ll also make sure that you’re fully insured and cover your expenses.
How much time do I need to give?
That depends on a lot of factors, such as how busy things are in your area and how much time you can spare. However, you will have a volunteering manager to help run your voluntary schedule and make sure things run smoothly.
Will volunteering cost me anything?
We reimburse all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses when you volunteer for us. Volunteers are asked to keep expenses to a minimum and to supply receipts. Please feel free to discuss this with a volunteer advisor beforehand if you have any worries or questions.
