The British Red Cross supported the Ugandan Red Cross relief and recovery operation from 2002-2010.
©Info We helped more than one million people while they were living in the camps, as well as when they returned home and began rebuilding their shattered lives. Activities included:
- constructing and repairing water and sanitation facilities
- providing household items, such as soap and cooking utensils
- distributing seeds and tools to help people become self-reliant
- addressing issues around gender-based violence and reproductive health
- health and hygiene promotion, including first aid training and prevention of HIV and malaria
- helping communities prepare for future disasters, such as floods, storms, fires and landslides.
