Emergency response in the UK

The Red Cross responds to hundreds of UK emergencies every year. Whatever the incident – from major floods and earthquakes to house fires and transport accidents – our trained volunteers are always on hand to help.

We also work closely with the emergency services and local authorities to support their work responding to crises.

Latest UK emergency response news

One of the largest emergency exercises in the UK begins on tomorrow (May 21) – and Red Cross volunteers and staff in Lincolnshire will be playing their part.

Volunteers have raced to help seven people after their escape from a devastating house fire.

As thousands of homes struggle without power and roads remain cut off, we are working round the clock to help those most in need.

With snow continuing to fall across the UK, Red Cross volunteers are using their 4x4 vehicles to help people affected by the severe weather.
