Social care staff training and development

Woman doing a presentation

We provide a range of training and development courses to enhance the knowledge and improve practice of staff working within social care. These are delivered and assessed by a team of qualified workplace assessors, internal verifiers and trainers.

Training can be delivered at external agencies or our training centre.

All sessions are supported with written material, which can be discussed with supervisors back at the work place.

Training courses

Our workplace assessors and internal verifiers provide Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) in Care at levels 2, 3 and 4. We also offer a range of full-day and half-day courses. The range of these courses is continually being developed.

Current topics include:

  • food hygiene
  • communication
  • health and safety
  • support planning
  • infection control
  • moving and assisting
  • medication administration
  • protecting vulnerable adults
  • supporting service users to manage their finances.

We also offer bespoke training tailored to meet the needs of individual agencies.

Standards

Our training courses:

  • are accredited by SQA and meet SVQ requirements
  • provide underpinning knowledge to meet Scottish Social Services Council requirements
  • reflect National Care Standards and current best practice.

We are committed to continuous improvement through regular participant feedback.
