Young refugees tell their stories in a series of video diaries produced by the Red Cross for Refugee Week.
Most of these young people, who have all benefited from our services, now volunteer for us as a way of saying thank you. Watch the films to find out why they left their home countries and what they think about life in the UK.

Cherif Lacine (17), from Cote D’Ivoire, lives in Glasgow and has found success as a footballer for Rangers under-19s squad. He lost touch with his family when he left his country, but found his mother through our international tracing and message services.

©InfoCharles Fon (17) comes from Cameroon in West Africa. He was left his country after his parents were killed for their political beliefs. He has made friends and learned first aid through a Red Cross peer education project in Manchester.

©InfoAbdulrahman Zahran Omar (22) comes from Somalia. He left his country after his father was beaten and killed, fleeing first to Kenya and then to the UK. The Red Cross helped him find his way around Glasgow, make friends and improve his English.
