About this teaching resource

Life. Live it. is a web-based, free teaching resource from the British Red Cross. It enables primary schools to deliver first aid education to pupils and it gives them the tools and information they need to feel comfortable in doing so.

Using a combination of interactive activities, film scenarios, information sheets and quizzes, Life. Live it. aims to build a generation of life-savers through increasing young people’s ability, confidence and willingness to give first aid. Furthermore, they will learn the importance of giving first aid without risk to themselves.

Life. Live it. is designed for pupils aged 6-11 at all primary stages and it emphasises the simple skills that pupils need to know. The key messages of the teaching resource are as follows:

  • Simple actions can make a difference.
  • Anyone can learn to give first aid in different situations.
  • Life. Live it. will enable children to feel confident that they can help.
  • If children are confident, they will be inspired to help.

People have accidents or are suddenly taken ill every day of the year. By learning first aid, children are empowered to look after themselves and each other. We hope that your pupils are inspired by the Life. Live it. message and see the impact that first aid skills can have on their own lives.

First aid is an invaluable life skill, that also helps meet whole school outcomes  – particularly in SMSC (England), Curriculum for Excellence (Scotland), PSE (Wales) and Learning for Life & Work (Northern Ireland).

Life. Live it. equips you with everything you need to teach primary school pupils the essentials of first aid. It is simple to use and requires no specialist knowledge of first aid.
