A curry house in Somerset has come up with a tasty way to raise money for the British Red Cross this Red Cross Week.
The Spice Gallery in North Petherton, Somerset, is hosting a curry night with a difference, offering guests the chance to enjoy innovative and traditional curry dishes and win exclusive prizes donated by local businesses, with profits from the evening donated to Red Cross Week.
Tickets for the event, from 6.30-9.30pm on Sunday 27 April, at The Spice Gallery, 44 Fore Street, North Petherton, cost £20 and include a three course meal. Red Cross Week is the British Red Cross’s annual fundraising extravaganza running from 4-10 May.
Hannah Darley, local fundraiser with the Red Cross, says: “Thanks to the generosity of the Spice Gallery, this is a perfect way to support the British Red Cross. Why not use this opportunity as an excuse to treat your family, or perhaps socialise with work colleagues.
“It’s already been a very busy year for the Red Cross. Our emergency response volunteers responded throughout the flooding on the Somerset Levels using specially--adapted 4x4 vehicles to get fuel, supplies and practical and emotional support to stranded communities as well as hot drinks, food and moral support to people left without power because of the bad weather. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without our specially-equipped vehicles and trained volunteers and the money raised through this event will help us continue to offer this support.”
Whether you jump out of a plane, bake some cakes or clear your shelves with a book sale this Red Cross Week every pound raised will help people in crisis, both in the UK and abroad.

Notes to editors
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
