All aboard! In celebration of Volunteers’ Week, the Big Red Cross Bus is hitting the road for a tour of the UK to highlight our great volunteering opportunities.
So what is the Big Red Cross Bus? It’s a travelling volunteer information centre – cunningly squeezed into a double decker bus – and it’ll be visiting 18 locations all across the UK from 30 May to 18 June.
The bus features information ‘zones’ highlighting the organisation’s event first aid, emergency response, retail, and health and social care services. You’re welcome to just hop on and take a look at our displays, and chat to our friendly experts who’ll tell you all you need to know about the Red Cross’ work in your local area.
And if you are interested in getting involved, we have an eye-boggling number of options. It doesn’t matter what your skills, experience or background are, or how much time you have to give. Even if you only have a couple of hours a week to spare, we'll have something to suit you.
Maryanne Burton, head of volunteering, said: “Our first bus tour last year was a great success, so we decided to take the opportunity again to promote our services directly to members of the public.
“It’s always great to see how impressed people are – and keen to get involved – once we go out into town centres and show them what we do.”
