British Red Cross help evacuated residents after bomb scare in Bath

A suspected unexploded World War II bomb was discovered in Bath last night. 

British Red Cross volunteers and staff are providing practical and emotional support to evacuated residents.

Five volunteers and one staff member helped those affected through the night. 

Two rest centres have been set up to support residents of at least 1,000 homes that have been evacuated. 

Beverly Sugden, Senior service manager with the British Red Cross, said:

"We are working alongside the emergency services, the council and other partner organisations to support local residents of the evacuated properties. 

"We hope to make things a little easier for them by providing physical and emotional support and offering assistance where we can."
