Palace Green Library: Somme 1916 exhibition
Durham university, 25 March-2 October 2016

The exhibition 'Somme 1916: from Durham to the Western Front' explores the Battle of the Somme through the eyes of the people from County Durham who were there.

In the exhibition you can see a First World War VAD nurse’s uniform, a chatelaine (leather and metal case containing surgical instruments, worn on the belt of uniform), and a County of Durham VAD worker badge from our collection.
