Why gifts in wills matter

Volunteer puts a bandage on a young child© InfoPeople in the UK and throughout the world depend on the Red Cross. We are there to help people, whoever and wherever they are, in crises large and small.

Currently, around £1 in every £4 of our donated income comes from gifts in wills. We need that money to ensure our life-saving work continues long into the future. We also need it so that we are ready to act immediately whenever an emergency happens.

If the British Red Cross is to continue helping people in crisis, it is vital that our supporters continue to remember us in this special way.

How your gift could help

Leaving a gift of just 1% in your will can make a real difference to people in crisis, whoever they are, in the UK and abroad.

Every gift can make a huge difference:

  • £250
Could provide food, drinks and refreshments stock for around 50 vulnerable people displaced by an incident.
  • £1,000
Means we can help 11 people readjust to life at home following a spell in hospital, through Red Cross visits and phone calls.
  • £5,000
Could train 500 people in life saving first aid here in the UK.
  • £32,000
Could buy a multi purpose vehicle to transport casualties and survivors in a disaster or act as an emergency first aid post.
