'A Tribute to Mark Rylance'

Join us at this fundraising event to celebrate actor Mark Rylance as he receives the 'Freedom of the City of London'.

The ceremony will be followed by a formal dinner with ‘A Tribute to Mark Rylance’ from friends, including renowned counter-tenor Iestyn Davies, Mark’s co-star in the recent West End sensation ‘Farinelli and the King’.

Horiuchi Foundation Musical Soireé

The Horiuchi Foundation proudly presents the very talented young Japanese cellist Asako Kanazawa, accompanied by Belgian pianist Maarten Lingier; and rising Korean star, soprano Sylvia Lee.

The programme features works by Bruch, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff and includes Tochiro Mayuzumi’s special ‘Bunraku’ for solo cello.

Sarah Chang Recital and Ambassadorial Dinner

World-renowned violinist, Sarah Chang generously donated this concert in support of the British Red Cross.

Recognised as a child prodigy at the age of 5, Sarah has since performed with every major orchestra in the world. The event began with a reception, followed by the recital. After the concert a dinner was held at an Ambassadorial Residence.

A stunning music and dance production by Thai performers, The Khōn – or masked play – is the visually spectacular meeting point of Thai arts and culture.

Singing, dancing, acting, acrobatics and music unite on one stage as stories based on the Ramakien (the Thai version of the Rāmāyana Indian epic) are told with a sense of Thai grace and style. This performance was one night only at the legendary Royal Albert Hall and all proceeds from British Red Cross ticket sales went to supporting people in crisis around the world.

William Dalrymple Lecture and Dinner

In this fascinating lecture renowned author and historian, William Dalrymple, talked about his latest book, Return of a King: The Battle for Afghanistan, detailing events of the First Anglo-Afghan War of 1839, during the period of the British Raj.

The event was held in the beautiful surrounds of the Belgian Residence and was generously hosted by HE Mr Guy Trouveroy and Madame Trouveroy.

Photo London VIP Experience

The British Red Cross International Fundraising Committee held a private viewing of Photo London 2015 - London’s First International Photography Fair - at Somerset House, in aid of The Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

The event included a lecture by Royal College of Art Professor, Dr Lucy Soutter, followed by a guided private tour of the exhibition and a lovely spring luncheon at Tom’s Kitchen.

Pop-Up Gallery

May 2015

International Fundraising Committee Member and artist, Eileen Coyne, generously displayed a wonderful collection of donated art at her Pop-Up Gallery.

Alongside these pieces were fashion items, Eileen’s jewellery, artwork by other artists, and ‘Art of the Table’. 100% of sales from Red Cross donated artwork went to the British Red Cross and 25% of all other sales were also donated, raising funds for people in crisis in the UK and abroad.
