Neighbourhood Links

The Neighbourhood Links project in Northern Ireland aims to reduce the social isolation of older people in the district council areas of Omagh and Fermanagh. The project enables older people to maximise their independence, participate in social and community life, and take on active social and voluntary roles.  This project, which is delivered in partnership with South West Age Partnership (SWAP), has been supported by the Big Lottery Fund with a grant of £497,868.

Neighbourhood Links works through a phased process and involves a combination of one-to-one support, group social activity and signposting to other services. These activities will promote greater confidence, increase self-esteem and motivate older people to stay independent, active and healthier for longer.

The project aims to ensure that local community support networks have increased capacity and can meet the diverse needs of harder-to-reach older people. Older people living in Omagh and Fermanagh will feel less socially isolated, more independent in their own homes, and they will have the skills to run and lead their own initiatives.
