The garden of this Victorian gentleman’s residence has been completely transformed and extended by the current owners. There is evidence that there was an elaborate garden with roses on ropes, a central lawn and extensive bushes and trees in the 1940s. By the 1960s this had all disappeared into an open garden with a lawn. In 2000 the new transformation of the garden started and has continued to present day. New paths, flower beds, a sunken garden, a courtyard, a wisteria arch, a hornbeam avenue, fruit, vegetable and salad beds, a formal parterre and trees have all been included. There is also artwork featuring natural plant forms and railway memorabilia.
We have included plants that flower year-round and that are suitable for nesting to support wildlife. The pond is home to frogs, newts and is a favourite bathing spot for the many birds that use the garden.
Teas will be served from the terrace, where guests can savour the beautiful garden.
