55 Mill St

While clearly being part of the shop for vintage clothing and decorative antiques, this shady, small courtyard surrounded by high walls has a feel and life of its own. The paved space is divided to include raised beds housing a huge Fatsia japonica, a spiky, pink fl owered Yucca, ferns and a Japanese anemone. A Campsis radicans spills over from next door offering late colour.
Two covered areas, up curved steps, house some of the extraordinary collection of antique and modern garden ornaments, furniture and implements. Stacks of rusting obelisks lean against walls and shelving boasts a myriad of terracotta pots. Urns and pots, some planted out, grace corners and a pair of antlers and much else are among this wonderful medley of interesting items. Ten per cent of the price of any garden items sold on the open day will be contributed to the British Red Cross.
