This is a well-known and much loved quintessential cottage garden. As one visitor said, it’s ’a little piece of paradise’. A winding brick path meanders under rose-covered arches past the flamboyant leaves of bananas and purple acers to a lawn. Here there are greenhouses, dwarf fruit trees and roses clambering up walls above over flowing flower beds. The path continues sloping down past a number of pools to a further lawn and a garden room where teas with homemade cakes will be served to visitors. Rosemary Hatton’s cards will be on sale here and the lilting music of a Celtic Harp, played by Joe Botting, will fill the air. Visitors wanting to buy plants will have the pleasure of a wide range of hardy herbaceous perennials on sale from Mynd Hardy Plants.
