The owners of this garden have described it as – ‘a formally informal green space’ and it fits this description well. There are views to the green spaces of Whitcliffe from the terrace by the house, which is brightened by pots of colourful pelargoniums. A step up leads onto a brick and gravel path, between a new shade bed under a large Viburnum tinus on one side and on the other, a bed of rose and perennials edged with box balls. Two Choisya x dewitteana mark the end of this section. Beyond, is a structure known as the ‘Temple’ with large yew squares to one side. Further on is mini-orchard of dwarf apples, a new shade bed and a sedum-roofed garden shed. A ten-foot south-facing wall is clothed in wide variety of climbers.
