Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

When exploring the topics and concepts in the British Red Cross teaching resources, teachers can support young people to engage by creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. The guidance notes provide teachers with advice on how to create an environment of open discussion, explore how to handle complex or challenging questions and consider how to manage sensitive or challenging content.

Through the activity, teachers can help learners to consider how they can support each other to engage with the topics. Learners will then set a group agreement, developing their own rules and boundaries for the session(s).
