Dawn patrol

Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester

Many elderly people die needlessly each year following falls, accidents or hypothermia because no-one realised there was a problem.

Dawn patrol is a local initiative developed to combat these difficulties by ensuring that elderly or vulnerable people are safe, warm and well. The service is based in Merseyside.

Since 2008, the service has been part-funded by the Big Lottery Fund, which has donated £194,000 to the project.

Pensioner Mary Jenkins was facing a tough time alone at home – until our volunteer called round to help.

After a stroke landed him in hospital for ten months, Randolph wasn’t ready to face the world again – until we lent a hand.
