Bringing families together

In wars and disasters, normal communications break down and people often lose touch with their loved ones. During 2005, we reunited hundreds of people torn apart in this way, where relatives are living in the UK.

Our international tracing staff also flew out to help families separated by disasters including the tsunami and Pakistan earthquake. Pamela Hussain, a British Red Cross tracing worker, helped people get back in touch with their loved ones using a satellite phone. Pam said: “People were very happy to be able to contact their family"
