| Lynne McMahon, retail manager, said: “Ricky is such a star for coming along to our Breck Road shop to help us rise to the challenge of raising £1 million in just two weeks.
“Volunteers have been working tirelessly to make this a success and local residents are invited to come along to the shop and support the Red Cross. All the money raised will be spent on vital Red Cross work helping vulnerable people in the UK and abroad.”
Charity shop events
Ricky’s visit is part of ‘£1 million fortnight’, which ends on Sunday 7 December and sees Red Cross shops around the country hold special events as they try to raise a million in two weeks. There will be late night shopping at the Poole shop on Thursday 4 December, while the Thurso shop in northern Scotland is running a novelty star sign service to match customers up with their ideal colour of clothing.
The shop in Forfar is holding a Christmas fair, with Santa paying a visit, and the Fareham shop will have a personal shopper on hand to answer customers' style questions.
Donations
More than 330 Red Cross shops across the UK rely on donations from members of the public to raise these valuable funds. Shops can convert clothing, discarded gifts, household items, books and DVDs into income for the charity.
So if you’re clearing out your cupboards, why not give your old stuff a new lease of life by donating to your local Red Cross charity shop and help them race past their £1 million target over the next few days?
