The Share charity number 118 499, which has raised more than £24,000 for the British Red Cross, has won the Directory Enquiries Community Impact Award 2005.

The award, which is designed to recognise positive achievements since directory enquiries liberalisation in the UK, was presented earlier this month.

Share 118 499 has raised more than £51,000, which has been divided between the British Red Cross and Barnardo’s, since it was launched in 2003.

This is a long-term commitment to charity and the service is still going strong.

“We are delighted to see Share 118 499 gain this recognition for its valued contribution towards our work," said Anna Mothes, corporate partnerships executive at the British Red Cross.

118 499 is a national directory enquiry service, providing both residential and business numbers. For every call, a donation of 5p plus VAT is shared equally between the British Red Cross and Barnardo’s.
