TESCO donation bolsters Red Cross response to Yorkshire flooding

Clothing and other essential items donated by TESCO has contributed significantly to the British Red Cross’ ongoing response to the severe flooding affecting Yorkshire and surrounding areas. A significant portion of a donation worth ten thousand pounds to support Red Cross emergency response work, has been distributed to hundreds of people forced from their homes who are staying in rest centres in Doncaster and Sheffield.
RED CROSS RESPONSE CONTINUES TO UK FLOODING

The British Red Cross has continued its response to flooding across the UK. In Doncaster four volunteers are providing emotional support at a rest centre for people unable to stay in their homes.
BT LAUNCHES GLOBAL DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAMME IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE RED CROSS

BT today announced a three-year partnership with the British Red Cross in support of disaster relief worldwide. BT, the first global communications company ever to partner with the British Red Cross in this capacity, will provide support through a three-year programme, providing £100,000 each year. This partnership will directly benefit communities across the globe that have been impacted by natural disasters, human conflict and other social, political and economic factors, through proactive disaster relief.

Today (19 June 2007) marks the start of Royal Ascot and staff at Tesco have got race fever! Look out for the Ascot-themed fundraising events when next in Tesco and help raise money for the British Red Cross. All money raised will be locally spent on British Red Cross services in the UK.
