Other ways we can help refugees

The Red Cross has a long tradition of providing practical and emotional assistance to vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees.

The following Red Cross services can make a real difference in helping refugees and asylum seekers, and are widely available across the UK:

International tracing and message services
The Red Cross works worldwide to help restore and maintain contact between those separated by conflict or disaster.

First aid
We provide first aid assistance, if required, at ports of entry. Refugees can also receive first aid training as part of the orientation process.

Transport service
The Red Cross can provide transport assistance for large-scale arrivals and, in some individual cases, may be able to respond upon request.

Medical equipment
We can provide wheelchairs or other necessary equipment when medical evacuees and those needing medical support arrive in the UK.

Health and social care
Our volunteers can help out with accessing social services and primary health care – such as doctors, dentists and opticians.
