Fundraising tips
There are hundreds of different ways you can raise money for the British Red Cross, but we suggest you choose the one that you will enjoy the most! It’s also a good idea to keep it simple and involve friends to help you where you can. Here are some popular ideas.
Dress in red | |
 | | | Get everyone at your school, dance school or youth group to pay £1 and wear red for the day – get your teachers to dress up too.
| |
The £5 challenge
Challenge each member of your class to raise just £5 for the Red Cross. You can ask friends, family and neighbours to make a donation in return for washing their car, sweeping their leaves or walking their dog.
Guess the number of sweets | |
 | | | You can fill a jar with sweets and chocolates, making sure you count how many you are putting in. Take the jar around your family, friends, neighbours or just from class to class in your school, and charge people a small fee to enter the competition by guessing how many sweets are in the jar.
| |
Take each entrant’s name (and contact details if you do not know them) and then award the closest guess with the jar of sweets as a prize! If you are lucky they might share their sweets with you.
Dance-a-thon
Get everyone dancing for one hour, you can choose any style of dance as long as you keep moving! Don’t let your teachers miss out on this one.
School disco | |
 | | | Hold a disco in your school or youth club and invite all your friends. Everyone pays an entry fee on the door and you and your friends can pick the music. To raise even more money you can sell cups of soft drink or bags of sweets. You can even design your own posters to advertise the disco.
| |
| To help keep track of your group's fundraising, use the chart in your teacher pack to mark how much you have raised and who your money could help. | |
