About our conflict and post-conflict

When a conflict strikes the Red Cross is quick to respond, providing first aid and psychological support to those affected.

Once the emergency phase is over, we continue to fill health and social care gaps in the affected region. This ranges from helping people overcome their psychological traumas to running immunisation programmes to stop outbreaks of disease.Child standing behind barbed wire

The British Red Cross supports a number of health and social care activities in conflict areas. In Sudan, we support a feeding centre in southern Darfur for malnourished children, as well as five outreach centres which focus on prevention and early detection of malnutrition before children need to be admitted to the feeding centre. We're also involved in programmes to help children get back on their feet following conflicts in Sierra Leone and Liberia .
