There are four 'core' modules that you need to complete to become a humanitarian citizen. There are then four more optional modules, and you can do as many of these as you want.

The first four modules are very challenging because you'll be finding out all about emergencies, discovering new things and solving problems. The optional modules are more exploratory and offer an opportunity to develop new skills, take action and do something practical.

No prior experience or knowledge is required to take part. Just bring along your  enthusiasm and a bit of imagination, and you'll be fine!

The resources are designed so you can work your way through the activities in a group without much help from your leaders, but there is also a guidance sheet that tells your leaders everything they need to know so that they can help you. It's totally up to you. If you wanted to do the first four 'core' modules all in one go then the minimum time would be four hours, but we suggest you take your time. Look at the activities in advance and plan what you will need, who will bring what and when you're going to do them.

The four optional modules can also be done over several weeks and there are plenty of extra activities if you want to find out more.

Most of the activities are aimed at 10 to 14 year olds, but some can be used for younger people. There are also extension activities for the older groups, so everybody is catered for!
