How many modules are there?

Top

There are four 'core' modules that you need to complete to become a humanitarian citizen. There are then four more optional modules, and you can do as many of these as you want.

Which is the best module?

Top

The first four modules are very challenging because you'll be finding out all about emergencies, discovering new things and solving problems. The optional modules are more exploratory and offer an opportunity to develop new skills, take action and do something practical.

What if I've never been in an emergency? Do I need to know anything?

Top

No prior experience or knowledge is required to take part. Just bring along your  enthusiasm and a bit of imagination, and you'll be fine!

How much help will I need from my leaders to do the modules?

Top

The resources are designed so you can work your way through the activities in a group without much help from your leaders, but there is also a guidance sheet that tells your leaders everything they need to know so that they can help you. And if you - or your leader - get stuck, we can always be contacted at powerofhumanity@redcross.org.uk

How can I find out more?

Top

If you want to find out more about the British Red Cross, then check out our website www.redcross.org.uk And if you want to find out more about the Power of humanity, simply look at all the info on our web pages or download a module. Alternatively, try our quiz to help you see if this is the right project for you!

How long will the project take?

Top

It's totally up to you. If you wanted to do the first four 'core' modules all in one go then the minimum time would be four hours, but we suggest you take your time. Look at the activities in advance and plan what you will need, who will bring what and when you're going to do them.

The four optional modules can also be done over several weeks and there are plenty of extra activities if you want to find out more.

Who is the project for?

Top

Most of the activities are aimed at 10 to 14 year olds, but some can be used for younger people. There are also extension activities for the older groups, so everybody is catered for!
