Be prepared Before an event, make sure you check the Health and Safety Executive’s purple and green guides to see how much medical provision you will require.
Did you know? Around one to two per cent of an audience will seek medical assistance during an event day. Of these, ten per cent will need further treatment on site – and about one per cent of those treated will subsequently require referral to hospital.
Our first aiders treat 20,000 injuries each year at public events and can provide ambulances to safely escort casualties to the nearest hospital.
No event should have fewer than two first aiders. The recommended minimum number of first aiders at small events where no special risks are considered likely is 2:1,000 for the first 3,000 attending.
We have trained first aiders ready to help all across the UK.
In order to fully discharge their safety responsibilities, event managers should ensure that appropriate medical, nursing, paramedic and first aid provision are available for all spectators.
We have a fleet of 300 ambulances and a long history of working closely with the NHS ambulance service.
Equipped to help We can visit your venue in advance to assess the first aid needs for your event. The level of medical provision required will depend on a number of factors, including:
- size (and age range) of audience
- nature and duration of event
- location and size of venue
- seasonal and weather factors
- proximity of local medical facilities
- potential availability of alcohol and/or drugs
- availability of facilities on site.
Whether it’s two first aiders for a local fete or 300 first aiders for a major event, we have the resources and experience to make sure things run smoothly and safely.
